Dialog Information Technology was established in 1979 and
currently has up to 950 information technology specialists,
with offices spread throughout the nation.
With expertise ranging from analysis, design and testing all the way to
project, program and data management, Dialog have been able to provide
services to a wide range of industries, consisting of: health,
finance, education, government and many more.
In May 2013, Dialog contacted DiGiCOR to assist them in providing
a large-scale cluster of storage with powerful processing power.
We put careful attention to detail to their demands to come up with
a perfect solution to meet the client’s needs as a long-term solution.
Digicor had a variety of challenges surrounding this project in providing an enterprise solution with limited budget. Dialog approached Digicor as they needed compute nodes and storage to be able to run Google Enterprise software. Prior to this, Dialog had no existing infrastructure to run these applications.
Google Enterprise allows users to customise Google Maps and zoom in at incredibly high detail and document these images. Furthermore, as these are highly detailed images, Dialog required a large storage repository and data integrity was paramount.
After Digicor provided Dialog with highly customized compute nodes for processing of application and 520TB of Software Defined Storage system based on the ZFS file-system for the storage requirement. The compute nodes are made up 5 nodes in a 4RU chassis.
Our solution provided met the high-scale, high-performance application requirements Google Enterprise posed. The hardware solution provided has allowed Dialog to continue their enterprise consulting with the peace of mind that their infrastructure is reliable, scalable, and backed by Digicor, one of the most successful solution providers in Australia.
The storage and server solution provided by Digicor provides Dialog with enterprise class capabilities focusing on issues that arise due to ever-growing datasets and provides Dialog with the flexibility to choose their storage operating system independently of the hardware that it runs on. Additionally, the SDS solution also aids Dialog in implementing high-performance, cost-effective data storage solutions with features such as: inline de-duplication, unlimited snapshots, cloning and full HA support. With the storage system based on commodity hardware, Dialog is saving around 20% of their storage costs compared to mainstream supplier hardware.
